S6 Connect has been providing IT support and services since 2006, though the Company was initially incorporated as PuzzledWorld Consultancy Services Limited in 2010, and renamed in 2014.
One of the principal aims of S6 Connect was to offer ongoing support and services to former clients of Jigsaw Hosting and Hosting4u, whilst also providing IT support to a number of local and national charities, mostly involved in supporting disabled people or working within Health & Social Care or Education.
Since then S6 Connect Ltd has grown, developed, and taken on new aspects, but the underlying principles and the roots of the Company remain key to everything we do.
S6 Connect continues to provide web hosting, design and consultancy work. We also operate an online ‘managed support‘ service to a number of local and national charities and non-profit organisations; taking responsibility for their web-based services and enquiries, and helping them to develop their communications infrastructure. We use WordPress for many of our own sites, and now also offer an extensive WordPress Management Service, that ensures sites are kept secure and updated.
We took over JigsawDial (formerly Call4u) telephony and fax2mail services, though these continue as before and have not been rebranded or altered in any way. All accounts have been maintained free of charge since the takeover. Additional Telecoms partnerships have also been introduced to provider a wider range of services for home and business use alike, including Virtual Fax (fax2email), low-cost freephone number services (0800) and new 03 phone number services. Conference Calling and SMS services have also been introduced.
Still on the technical side, S6 Connect offer PC servicing and repair. Much of this is operated remotely, with experienced support technicians accessing client’s PCs over the internet in order to remove viruses and spyware, install software, and enhance PC performance. Providing the service remotely enables us to support more people and at the same time keep costs to a minimum.
S6 Connect believes prevention is always better than cure.
We were the first UK partner of a ground-breaking online backup service that was since bought out by another Company and changed in a way that did not fit our model and ethic, but a partnership with LiveDrive (also provided under the PC World ‘KnowHow’ label) saw the introduction of a great new online backup and sharing service, SaveStoreShare.com
AVG has been our preferred Anti-Virus and Internet Security tool for some time, and a partnership with them provided a unique benefit to a couple of selected charities in 2010, and we now provide their new CloudCare managed security packages at great value rates.
In 2013 we invested in further monitoring and management tools for home and business users alike, adding automated maintenance and quick support access to the PCSLive service range. A dedicated tool to protect against ‘CryptoLocker’ ransomware was also released free of charge, and is regularly updated alongside our managedSupport application.
‘Design & Print’ services have produced artwork, publicity, menus, orders of service and many other documents for a range of clients and contacts at a reasonable price. Most forms of design and print work will be considered, and we will work with local printers on larger projects to ensure the best quality at the lowest price wherever possible.
With several years experience in other sectors, our professional team also undertake field marketing and auditing assignments, directly and indirectly, for a range of clients; provide administrative and HR support to local and national charities; develop educational resources and support other professionals; advice on parenting, childcare and disability issues; make tea, and burn toast.
Our passion remains firmly in the non-profit arena, and the early strapline of “first class services for the third sector” still rings true. As a Google Partner we have equipped several growing charities and community organisations to stay better connected with Google Apps for Education services and selected Telecoms services from our partners, as well as providing discounted software and in many cases free web hosting. Whilst many of our clients are voluntary organisations with limited financial resources, we also offer services to large corporate companies and individuals.
Company Director, Steve Westrop, was awarded Professional Membership of the British Computing Society – also known as the Chartered Institute for IT – in 2011 in recognition of his work with voluntary organisations, and the services created for them.
WORK[etc] Pty Ltd, an Australian Company providing a complete ‘Software as a Service’ (Saas) Business Management Tool to over 1200 businesses globally, approached us in 2011 to discuss plans for providing support and training to their European users. We were already using the program ourselves, and are pleased to now be working in partnership in this way. Consequently Steve is also now an Associate Member of the Australian Computing Society.
Over the years Partners have come and gone, but our commitment to providing first-class services remains as strong as ever. We currently supply services from a number of well-known global brands, including Microsoft, Google, AVG, LiveDrive, Amazon, Carbonite, Host Europe Group, Krystal, enom, EE, nPower, TalkTalk, WORK[etc], WordPress, Anveo, and more.
We are members of the Federation of Small Business (FSB), 4Networking (4N) and the Association of Computer Repair Business Owners (ACRBO). More importantly though, S6 Connect remains a not-for-profit Company, limited by guarantee rather than by shares, and continues to work locally as well as globally, whether that’s with an individual wanting help with their home computer, or a global corporation looking to restructure.
